Well I made it exactly 1 week in a row with Throwback Friday. Who am I kidding I knew there was no way I was going to be able to keep a schedule on this blog. The good news is that instead you get the Saturday edition. YEAH! The other good news is that I had to let Throwback Friday go by the wayside because I was busy with a lot of other good things toward the end of the week.
My Grandma turns 85 tomorrow! Happy Birthday Gram! All this week I’ve been cramming to get a tribute video put together for her big shindig last night. She had hundreds of people show up and it was a great evening for her. I think the video turned out pretty well too. I’m my own worst critic when it comes to projects, so I become a bit of a obsessive compulsive anal retentive stress case perfectionist. It all turned out great though and I’m feeling good about it now. Here’s to many more birthday’s for Grandma!
This week was week 2 of the 4am wakeup on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. My body is slowly starting to adjust. I’ve been waking up early for a long time, but 4am is actually before early. I believe it’s officially considered really late, from the previous day. I must say that being done with an hour long workout by 6am is kind of invigorating! It even gives me time to go swim or sit in the hot tub before I have to be to school. It’s a nice break for those worn out muscles. Next week will be even better.
WARNING: Geek Tangent
On Sunday I completely wiped my computer and installed Windows 7. I’ve been using Windows 7 since very early on, and I already have it installed on my Home Theatre PC and my desktop, but I’ve been hesitant to make the switch on my laptop considering I had about a bazillion customizations in Windows XP to help me be more efficient. Also considering it’s the computer I use more than any other I didn’t know how I’d feel about making that kind of switch. It was a great decision! I may not have all my customizations in place, but overall performance bundled with a few other tweaks have completely transformed my laptop. Turns out all those customizations that I had loved for so long must have been killing my resources. I guess I had just become increasingly more accustomed to the overall lag. The “new machine” screams and has temporarily killed the urge to buy a new MacBook Pro….at least until the new models are released
Safe to read again for the non-techies.
Tomorrow is the Super Bowl. I LOVE football, but unfortunately my favorite team is the Rams. I won’t go into the whole long story of how I became a Rams fan, it just happened. Basically when the Rams were in L.A. they were the closest team to where I live geographically so I decided to root for them. It was great in the late 90’s and early 2000’s but since then it hasn’t been all that awesome.
For whatever reason I’m not entirely stoked about the Super Bowl this year. I’m not sure why. Maybe it’s because I don’t plan to eat 800,000 calories tomorrow but I don’t really think it’s related. I just haven’t watched any Super Bowl coverage yet and I’m not feeling the same buzz I usually do. I don’t think it has to do with the fact that I don’t have a team in the game either. The Rams obviously have missed quite a few Super Bowls since my childhood, but I always find a team to cheer for. Maybe my problem is that this year I think I want both teams to win. I’ve always been a Peyton Manning fan and I can’t really root against a team like New Orleans with a story that amazing. I’m just not sure. I’m still going to watch the game and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it, but maybe not to the extent I have in the past. We will see!
I also need to do take care of some business in this post. I haven’t been fair to the people who are competing in the NMB Biggest Loser challenge. I haven’t given them the props they deserve for all the hard week they’re putting in. We just finished up week 4 and they have lost 139.3 pounds as a group! Sam from SlimminSam was our week 2 winner losing 8 pounds in just a week. Another participant, Greg, has lost 11.2 pounds over the last 2 weeks and has won weeks 3 and 4 both. As a group they are doing amazing work and I couldn’t be more proud of all the effort they’re putting into this. Better health is definitely in their future!
I think that will about wrap up our Saturday edition of the Friday Throwback. As always, thanks for reading and have a great weekend!
I’m not super stoked about The Super Bowl either. I am excited for the commercials and the fun with friends though. I am going to try and keep my eating and drinking in check this year, that will be a first for me!
Glad to hear the video went well.
As a techie I enjoyed the Windows 7 interlude.
