I frequently talk about working out and eating right and maintaining mental focus and those are all nice things, but I think that most of us know what it takes to drop pounds (at least in the scientific sense). I think what many of us lack is the HOW. Even if I know I’m supposed to eat less or eat better, HOW do I control my urge to binge? Where does the will power come from? I think many of us can also be on a program for 2 or 3 weeks at a time and do really well, but somehow old habits suck us back in.
I’ve always thought that the key to successful weight loss is being in the right state of mind and being able to stay there for an extended period of time. Sometimes that warning from the doctor to cut back on the sodium only lasts until we pass the local taco stand with our car windows rolled down. We hit the brakes, sacrifice our lives fighting through traffic, and 1500 calories later we can feel those words from the doctor pulsing through our veins. Then what do we do? We get angry with ourselves, then disappointed, then sad. Then as we feel sorry for ourselves we make more bad decisions trying to “fix” our feelings. Well the tacos pissed me off but I’m sure this carton of Cherry Garcia is going to fix everything. We honestly make ourselves believe that, don’t we?
Trust me I’ve felt all of those emotions and I know that many of you have too. People were happy for me when I started to lose weight and I know I felt good about it. However, I think that lots of people expected my fire to kind of fizzle out and die like it does for so many. Thank goodness up to this point it hasn’t! Now to say I’m not afraid of regressing or finding old habits again would be an utter and blatant lie. It scares me every single day.
I get different questions from people on a pretty regular basis; “How have you stayed on track for so long?” or “How do you make yourself exercise every day?” or my favorite (when the chocolate cake is being passed around the room and I stand quietly sipping from my water bottle) “Aren’t you even going to try this cake? You need to have at least a bite!”
The answer to all of those questions and probably many many more, is that I love my program. I have found a program that focuses on all of the aspects of weight loss that I’ve mulled over for the last four paragraphs and it has helped me be successful. I’m not capable of being any more motivated than any of you. I just have a program that works for me and I believe it’s built on sound principles. I hate the quick fix attitude that we’ve all come to expect. My program doesn’t promise a quick fix. It requires hard work and determination, but the bottom line is, it works.
Full Disclosure: This next section is going to be a basic overview of the program that I’ve been using since I started trying to lose weight. All of the opinions are MY opinions. Are they going to pay me for any business I drive their way? Yes they are. THAT IS NOT WHY I AM WRITING THIS POST. Well, at least it’s not the primary reason, I could use a new MacBook
Seriously though, I hope I’ve been doing this long enough that you know my intention with this post is sincere. I really do believe in the program and I believe it can help anyone be successful at meeting their goals for their body. So here we go.
How come we’ve never heard of IdealShape?
IdealShape is a newer company. They’re based here in Utah near my hometown and have been in business for a few years. Just in the past little while they’ve started developing the IdealShape at home program that they lovingly call the IdealPlan. One of my friends from high school is one of the owners of IdealShape and has been my personal trainer during my journey. Our level of friendship varies from day to day depending on the intensity of the workout he puts me through.
What makes IdealShape different from other at home weight loss programs?
I copied this right from their eBook, please don’t tell them!
The IdealShape Fitness Program is a holistic approach to weight loss, and that’s what makes it unique. We have learned that in order to be truly successful, a fitness program must address weight as a whole mind and body matter. Trying to isolate and correct a single problem with a single solution doesn’t work, because there are no isolated issues in the human body!
I LOVE THIS APPROACH! When was the last time you heard of a weight loss program that targets your mind and body together? The ability of the program to be dynamic and be adjusted for each different person means that it truly can be for everyone. Did I mention that I love this part of the program?
What makes the IdealPlan a long term solution?
I think it goes back to the mind and body approach of the program, but they do have a bunch of tools included in the plan to help you stick with the program for an extended period of time. The plan also replaces bad habits with good ones so you are more likely to follow the main points of the program long term instead of feeling like you’re “on a diet”. I also like that the foundation of the plan is still good nutrition and exercise, I think that part is key!
Now if the IdealPlan sounds like something you could use to jump start your weight loss or if you’re just looking at changing up your current routine then please know that it comes highly recommended from yours truly. I wouldn’t mention it if I didn’t believe in it, seriously.
Now for the great news! If you do want to buy the program I can hook you up with discounts! Woohoo, we all love saving money! Through the end of January (I know only 5 more days) I can save you 40% on the IdealPlan which includes all of the parts to the program, or the IdealShape Weight Loss Shakes if you use the coupon code nomorebacon01 at checkout. There’s no limit to the number of times you can use the code so pass it along to as many people as you’d like.
Always on the lookout for ways to maintain my wait. Good luck with your endeavor and thank you for sharing.
SO INTERESTING…and yet so cause me to think, again, how for me there is no balance in life.
its elusive.
I strive for harmony and just to have none of the life-balls Im juggling slam to the ground even tho some may rise higher some weeks (work? family?) while others come precariously close to falling (HELLO RUNNING)
harmony with each other is all I can hope for.
Hey, you are SO RIGHT. You must find the program that speaks to you. Everybody has a different one. My mom? Lost 35 pounds eating South Beach style and has kept if off for 7 years. TJ counts points. I don’t know what I do yet but it’s gonna be something good.
I heart you. Like, totally.
Wow, that is some program! I have issues with weight loss for an extended period of time without changing things. I might have to look into this more.
Now, the real reason behind my visit..I’ve seen many of your tweets and retweets in the past year and saw your blog needed some Dakota love…South Dakota right here for ya!! I’ve been a slacker on actually visiting or commenting anywhere lately, so you got me off the mobile with your cry for a visit. My current site is on hiatus right now (I’ve blogged on and off for over 8 years in different forms) but I’m bringing out my new one (with my own domain and on Wordpress even!!) soon. I would scare you up some more love from here…but I haven’t even found any other bloggers around here…unless you count a couple political blog geezers…no health/weight loss ones at least…
I’ll be back!
I’m glad its worked for you.
Hi- I love hearing about your success and commitment. Having been in this business (helping overeaters, binge eaters) for decades and struggled thru my own eating disorder, I know that people need to become as “compusive” about new ways of living as they were with food. You can’t separate the mind or body or the spirit and each piece needs to be supported because this is a complex tricky issue- food is everywhere!
I think no matter what program people choose, the trick is to stop looking at anything else. Pick a program or a person and make it work.
Keep writing- everyone needs to hear about success!
In love and service,
Lisa
